Christmas letter 2017

Back to the Basics

May 25, 2017

This is an excellent article written by someone fed up with big church productions and rock bands. I happen to agree with a lot of what he says. Although not a deal breaker, I can only handle it in small doses. But having said that, attending one that has a band, but teaches the Bible, is preferable to one that doesn’t and tries to rewrite it. My preference for music does not dictate my church, God does. I just do it in smaller doses, like I said.
Outside of church, it’s rock and roll all of the way.

My prayers for the people of Manchester, and the latest victims of terrorism. May God strengthen and comfort those who survived, and although I’d like to say a lot about the people who committed the crime, I will let the vengeance belong to God.

The Easter Bunny

April 15, 2017

The Easter Bunny has arrived here at the farm. Of course, Shane is asleep and won’t find out until tomorrow morning.  There are also eggs going up the stairs. outside, and a basket filled with goodies.  Like our furry friend, I too have been busy.  I mowed part of the yard (only about an acre of our 60), prepared food for tomorrow and helped my husband catch all but one of the roosters and put them outside the barnyard enclosure.  They were repeatedly mean to the hens, so they are now free range. Mr. Crow gets to stay with the girls, because he knows how to treat a lady.  Anyway, yeah, it was a busy day!

Good Friday

April 14, 2017

Today I changed out our chapel to reflect it being Good Friday.  I will be off for the Easter holiday, so I’ll take this opportunity to wish everyone a blessed remainder of Holy Week, and Happy Easter.

Dysfunctional Diary

March 3, 2017

Dear Dysfunctional Diary,
for Lent I gave up swearing.  Maybe it will stick past Lent, I wouldn’t put too much money on it though.  I’ve had several restarts. Having a puppy, children (both adults) and living on a farm will do that to you. Puppy runs by with one of your favorite kitty slippers in his mouth-restart.  Turkeys crap all over the side porch, and the delivery man leaves a package there-restart. Someone left the water running outside-restart. Puppy left a surprise for you, which you didn’t see in time and took a urine soaked skiing trip across the kitchen-RESTART. Your daughter says something snarky and you respond without thinking-restart. You attend a concert and sing part of a lyric with swearing, again, without thinking-restart.  At this point I’m beginning to think I should have picked something else.  Something easier, like scaling a cliff. Or would that be a *$&!ing cliff?
