Christmas Letter 2013

December 15, 2013

When scanning the newsfeed it’s not hard to see headlines that reflect the sign of the times.  White collar crime, blue collar crime, crimes that humans inflict on each other, as well as their animal charges, and the babies and children who never had a fighting chance to see how wonderful this life can be. Crime and drug/alcohol abuse has sky rocketed. Sometimes it’s not safe to even sit in our own homes without someone invading to take what has been worked hard for.  There’s filth wherever you turn -on the radio, on television, on the streets, on the magazine racks at the local store.  The world is spinning out of control, and we’re so tuned in to ourselves, our needs or numb from the latest drug that we’ve ingested that we don’t care. We take and take without any thought to giving.  We are a bottomless pit that is never satisfied. Through wars, greed, lust, selfishness and apathy we have destroyed God’s creation.  What have we done??  We are tired, we are stressed out, scared, strung out, we are victims, we are guilty, we’re at the end of our rope, we are barely hanging on…we are lost.  Sometimes we can barely breathe from the weight of the darkness. We are in desperate need of a hero, someone to look up to.  Someone to save us from ourselves.

And then a star appeared, and those of us who decided to follow it began an epic journey to save our lives and to save as many people as we could by taking them with us.  And hope was given to the world…

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

This star drew nigh to the northwest
O’er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both Pause and stay
Right o’er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then entered in those Wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
